New publication in "ChemBioChem"

May 29, 2012 / Albert Jeltsch

The bacterial CcrM methyltransferase modifies DNA spezifically at GANTC sequences. This methylation is essential for a-Proteobacteria, a group of bacteria also containing some human pathogens. In a publication in "ChemBioChem", we studied how the CcrM enzyme recognizes its target sites and identigied some amino acid residues that are invovled in this process. The work was supported by the  Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft DFG gefördert (JE 252/5) and it was perfomred in cooperation with Prof. Dr. Martin Zacharias from the TU Munich.
