New publication in "FEBS Journal"

In this new publication, we describe the improvement of a DNA methylation-based epigenetic memory system in two aspects: Firstly, we developed an OFF-switch allowing us to demonstrate reversible switching of bacteria between the ON- and OFF-states for several times. Secondly, we investigated the stability of the ON-state, showing that, with time, individual bacterial cells experience an increasing probability to switch back into the OFF-state, because of imperfect inheritance of the DNA methylation signal.
