Study of epigenetic reading domains

Study of epigenetic reading domains

A new reserach project at IBC investigates epigenetic reading domains. Epigenetic modifications are essential for the development of mammals. They comprise the modification of DNA and histone proteins, which package the DNA. These modificaitons are specifically recognized by reading domains, which then initiate a defined biological response, e.g. the induction of the expression of a gene. In our project we investigate the structure, specificity and function of reading domains with biochemical methods.

The project is supported by the DFG.
