In a publication in "Biochimie", the Journal of the French Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, we study the substrate specificity of the SET8 Histone H4 Methyltransferase using peptide arrays. Our results show that this enzyme has a very high specificity and it recognizes seven amino acid residues in the substrate peptide. They will help to better understand the biolgical role of this enzyme. The work was supported by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft DFG (JE 252/7) and was conducted in cooperatoin with Prof. Dr. Arunkumar Dhayalan (Pondicherry University, India).
