DFG research project at IBC approved

March 7, 2013 /

Approval of a grant by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft. Topic:  „The Mechanisms of Glucose-Induced Catabolite Degradation in the Yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae“. The new project is concerned with cell regulation by the nutrient glucose, a central trigger of a multitude of cellular processes. Topic is the glucose-induced inactivation of gluconeogenesis through degradation of the regulatory enzymes of this metabolic pathway by ubiquitin induced proteolysis. Function, regulation amd mechanism of the central mediator of proteolysis, the Gid complex, a multi-subunit ubiquitin ligase, lies in the focus of the studies.
